Kona calls the Splice a cross between the Kahuna (an outstanding mid level 29er mountain bike) and their Kona Dew ( a hybrid/fitness bike). Giant and Specialized along with a few other bicycle companies have brought out basic 29er mountain bikes in this price range in the last few years. I like the Kona Splice because it's a little more streety than the other entry level 29er's out there. Perfect for guy's like myself who like to cruise the streets and putt around on the trails from time to time. If you do most of your riding on trails and single track you may want to invest in a little more substantial bicycle. Like the Kahuna.
